Whenever I first walk in to a sports card show I tend to be in awe. I'm not one that has any direction when I walk in there, I just browse the aisles and see what it's all about. I'm so into it that I simply forget or don't care to do things like eat for hours on end. Looking at cards is more important! That is pretty much how I was yesterday at the Philly Show. I walked in and started wandering. Five hours or so later, I had some pretty cool stuff.
The first thing I picked up was a no brainer. There was a vendor there selling 2008 commemorative Sports Illustrated issues of the World Champion Phillies. I picked one of these up because I don't have it, they were in great condition, and most importantly, they were only two bucks. It'll look nice in a frame and it's definitely something to hang on to as part of my collection.
There was a guy there selling marble plaques of pretty much any sports figure you can imagine, and he had some nice Roy Halladay pieces available. I decided to pick one of these up too, and it was only eight bucks. Not bad in my opinion. I think I am going to get the photo in the plaque signed for my mail-in or in person autograph I paid for. It should look nice displayed.
In addition to that, I also picked up a nice 8x10 photo of Carlos Ruiz and Roy hugging after the playoff no-hitter. It was only four bucks, and it will be nice for framing too.
Well this was a card show, and I did get lots of cards. Here are three cards I picked up from a .50 cent per card bin. I liked them, they were cheap, and I think they are cards I should have in my collection. I got lots of other cards from this particular vendor. I spent over an hour at their table going through boxes they had of .50 cards. I'll post more pick ups later.
I'm headed to the Ravens game again tonight. This one should be nuts, it's the Steelers and it always is. As I look outside right now it is flurrying. I think I will wear four or five or six layers of clothes.
