How do you organize your card collections?
For years I have had most of my cards in 9 pocket holders in binders, but now I have around 12 of them filled, along with a column box that holds 5000, and then another box that holds 2000, and then I have some other plastic boxes with cards. Total chaos, which I cannot stand!
The problem is that except for the Phillies and my player collections, I have very little organization: not by team, year, brand, etc. I mean, in the past, as I have busted hobby and retail boxes and packs and I have kept those cards together, but one binder might have some 1987 Topps along with 2005 Leather and Lumber, and some Fleer Ultra mixed in, as an example.
I'm not so concerned about my player collections--they are in binders and they will stay there. But the other cards--stars, semi-stars, key rookies, game-used, serial #ed, commons--I'm just not sure what to do with them--how to organize and arrange them. By year? By team? By player? By card type? Do I mix in Sps with other cards, or separate them? I only collect baseball so other sports are not a concern. I'd like to somehow get rid of some binders holding commons, and organize my cards so they are easier to find and take up less space. I just want a manageable system.
So, how do you organize your collection? I'm all ears. Any tips or ideas anyone can provide are much appreciated!
9-pocket three-ring binders ("D" rings)- over 2 dozen of them, organized by brand ordered by year. All my "for trade" cards are organized into smaller boxes by team
ReplyDeleteMy team sets are all in 4" binders divided by year. I've got '62-'79 in one, the '80s in another and then the '90s and '00s are divided up by every 3 years or so. Whatever there's room for.
