Mascots Make Painful Losses Easier (Not Really)

Derek from Tomahawk Chopping hooked me up with the cards below.  Why do I love those mascot cards so much? I think they just bring out the kid in me.  I'm pretty close to completing the insert set and also the Presidential First Pitches set too. In case you are wondering, no--Polanco, Oswalt and Strasburg are not mascots, they are cards Derek included with the lot!

I decided to go with a light-hearted mascot-ish post today because I am still mourning the events of last evening.  The Phillies lost to the Brewers 9-0 and they had only 2 hits in the game. Against Randy Wolf, who they made look like a Cy Young candidate.  Not only did the Phillies lose, but blog hero Roy Halladay took his first loss of the season as well.  He also gave up 6 runs (bye-bye good ERA) and (gulp) 10 hits.  It happens though, right?

Also for the team it is the worst loss of the (young) season, their first shutout, and the first time they lost two games in a row.  I guess it's best to get it all out of the way now rather than spread out the pain, huh?

The saving grace? Cliff Lee takes the mound this afternoon.  The bats need to wake up or it is going to be a long day.
Back to the mascots: Who is your favorite mascot--in any sport?

And a big THANKS to roy who is a keeper on my fantasy team. that was just mean, its hard enough to root for the phils, but that just hurt.

  3. Lol! Good thing he doesn't do that very often. He has maybe three or four starts that turn out like that a season. Good thing he got the first one out of the way!
