I have done the different sort searches, sorting by lowest first, ending soonest, free shipping, etc. But I cannot seem to find these amazing deals that I see others posting on. Don't get me wrong; I have gotten some good deals on eBay in the past, but I just want to make sure I am not missing some tip or trick that I should be using, but am not because I don't know about it.
I want game used cards for under two dollars, too, damnit!!!
Check out this beauty, it recently sold for $255.11.
(I didn't bid on this one--but that's not to say I wasn't tempted).
Well, it is a Dodgers card, for starters...

Try spelling names wrong. Especially if it is a guy who's name sounds different than it is spelled. I would think that lots of Halladays get listed as Holiday. It is worth a try if you can make yourself wade through all the Matts.
ReplyDeleteLow-blow Richard, low-blow!
ReplyDeleteTry just putting in the player's name, nothing else. I've had some good fortune that way.
Also, auctions that end at night, early in the morning, on holidays, and Friday/Saturday night or early morning in particular tend to go for less $.
A lot of it is really just luck though.
Good luck Julie!
Oh come now Greg, you had to see that one coming...
ReplyDeleteThe only things I can offer as far as the Bay go.. I tend to snipe the auctions that I want the worst, waiting until the last 5 seconds or so to throw a bid in. I determine what price I'm willing to pay, and "walk" away when the price goes higher. I display my searches by highest price + shipping, then scroll down to my price range before I even start looking at the results, that way I don't look at cards (or other stuff) that are priced higher than I want to pay. If something looks fishy, send a question, if the answer still seems fishy, walk away.
Finally, if it's meant to be, it will happen. Good luck, and one last comment, what's your ebay username, so I won't bid against you?!? LOL
Doesn't mean it wasn't a low-blow haha.
ReplyDeleteSniping is good, but a better thing is to do a lot of bids sorting by newly listed with free shipping first. However much you are comfortable spending bid on that many cards. For example, you are comfortable spending $20 after sorting bid $1 on 20 different cards that have 0 bids that you might like. Once you are outbid on a few, let them go and do the list again bringing your total back up to 20. Sometimes you get something that everyone misses that way. Also it helps to look for items ending very late or very early or on Sunday nights. All of those have been good to me.
