When I went to Target last week they had one value box left. I rationalized it in my head that of course the one box left was meant for me, and it would hold treasures of epic proportions. Or at least hobby packs of Heritage and two guaranteed Diamond Annivesary code cards.
You can see the configuration above. ZOMG I get an EXCLUSIVE Chrome card. I wondered if I would get a Mantle, or...a Mantle. Five packs of Series 1, and two HOBBY packs of Heritage. Plus the two code cards. A pretty good value for $14.99.
I scanned the back of the box in case you care. You probably don't, though.
Look! I pulled a Mantle Chrome card. How shocking. I also pulled a Mantle Kimball mini. I have a lot of modern day Mantle cards in my collection, without even trying to start a PC of him I probably have a small one.
Nothing too exciting above, just some notable pulls from the packs.
And here are the Heritage pulls. I have already offered the McCann and the Braves team card below to Derek at Tomahawk Chopping, and I'm waiting to hear if he wants them, but all of the others are for trade. I am looking for Phillies Topps gold border numbered cards from all years, as well as cards for my player collections and sets I'm trying to complete. Any Phillies game used, oddball, or auto stuff works, too.
Yup, all of the above are for trade too. The value box was a good value, but I didn't pull anything too exciting. I'm sure I'll buy another one, though. Surely the next box will hold mostly SPs, autos and game used cards (it helps to tell myself that!).
The Phillies played last night and I am trying to forget that was even the case. They lost again to the D-backs. Ugh.
At least they played... did not give one away. Got some good hits, some good plays...
ReplyDeleteI bought my first Value Box today as well. Best thing in my box was the MLB 2011 Collector's Guide (I guess it's only in the Walmart boxes?). I didn't get one single card out of the 5 packs of Topps that I needed for my set! So frustrating. Best card was a 60 Years of Topps Original Back of Roy Campenella. My Chrome Refractor was Ruth. Now to find someone to take that card off my hands.
ReplyDelete@Colbey, Whoops, forgot to post about that. Mine came with a collector's guide booklet too! Kind of cool. I'll trade my Mantle for your Ruth, haha. @Dawg, I just hate losses!
