Two Ebay Purchases, Weekend Recap

I'm still so in awe that I got to hang out with Joe Flacco on Friday afternoon.  I'm not sure I will ever be able to fully comprehend it.

Anyway, back to sports cards! Wait--first, the Phillies swept the Padres in 4 games at Petco Field the past four days.  Yesterday, blog hero Roy Halladay recorded 14 strikouts on his way to the win.  He pitched 8 2/3 innings and Antonio Bastardo (affectionately called Tony Bastard by some Phils fans) came on and got the save by throwing one pitch.  The Phils now travel to Arizona where Clifton Phifer Lee will take the mound tonight to try to make it five wins in a row.  This rotation is pretty good.  The bad news though is that Jose Contreras has been placed on the 15 day DL with some sort of elbow strain.  He was our closer since Brad Lidge is out too.  Now Ryan Madson is the closer and Mike Stutes has been called up from AAA Lehigh Valley to join the bullpen.  JC Romero is on the DL, too.  Good thing our starters tend to go deep into games.

So NOW on to sports cards.  Here are two recent pick ups I got on the bay.  The first card is an SP Top Prospects Syracuse Skychiefs Halladay card.  The scan does not do the card justice--it has a shiny tint to it.

The second card I picked up is this Studio Stars insert from 2004 Donruss.  I have a random Mark Mulder Studio Stars card, and I love the look of it, so I picked up the Roy version as well.   I have my eye on a few more auctions so I hope to have more to post on in the weeks ahead.

Here's to a great week for all, filled with wins for your team, unless they are playing the Phillies (sorry, had to!).
