On to Series 2...
I don't feel the need to post any base cards, because if you don't know what the base cards look like from this set then you are one of a few things:
1. Living under a rock
2. Not a collector
3. Stumbling upon my blog because Google sent you here based on your keyword search (in which case, welcome, it's funner here).
These are not base cards! Look at the logo...they are Target exclusive throwbacks!
Granderson throwback...
Throwback...back. I like the throwback set, and I would be inclined to collect all of the throwback cards if it wasn't so incredibly difficult and expensive to collect them all.
The Kimballs are nice in Series 2, all old time players. The other day I pulled a Greg Maddux Kimball and I felt really old. Maddux is now grouped with folks like Mantle, Schmidt, Brock, Yount, etc. He doesn't seem that old, but it makes me feel old.
The Reggie is a normal back, not original.
A normal back Big Papi. The Red Sox meet the Phillies for a three game series starting tomorrow. It should be a good test for both teams.
Shiny cards show up in the Series 2 packs as well...
This Mathews below is an original back. Just how short printed are these short prints?
Ok, fine. One base card. But it's the Phillies celebrating a Rollins' walk off last year! My only objection is that Jayson Werth is prominent on the card. He is a National now.
I am looking for Series 2 Diamond Duos of the players in my player collections: Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Zimmerman, Drabek, Strasburg. I think all of these players have a Diamond Duo card in Series 2 except maybe Drabek. I haven't looked though.
60 Years of Topps inserts.
I haven't purchased nearly as much Series 2 as I did Series 1, but that might be because of the other cool sets that are out now. Back when Series 1 came out we had no Heritage, Gypsy Queen, Bowman, etc. Hence, less Series 2 has found its way into my collection. I guess maybe I should buy more!
Hey Julie,
ReplyDeleteI could use the Tulo DD and Spilborghs diamond card. I have the Halladay gold you claimed and also the Halladay/King Felix DD for our burgeoning trade.
The Lincecum/Wilson Diamond Duo card may be the grossest card I have ever seen. Disgusting!
