Mother Nature is Mad

Mother Nature hates us.  I am now convinced of this.  Here in the mid-Atlantic/east coast we have had rain for the past thousand hours.  Ok, that might be a bit extreme, but it seems that way.  It's been raining all day today along the Baltimore/Washington corridor- it rained all day yesterday, and it is going to rain through the night and again tomorrow.  We've gotten rain in the 5 to 10 inch variety.  Tons of roads are flooded and closed.  Thousands of motorists have been stranded in standing water.

The past few weeks have also featured an earthquake and a hurricane to go along with the tropical rains we are getting now.

You might have heard that the O's/Yankees game was over at 2:15am yesterday morning due to a four hour rain delay.  MLB really, really wants to play these games.  Understandably so, but these are some tough playing conditions.

Hmmm...I need something to take my mind off of the dreary weather...

Oh yeah, baseball cards. Of the game used variety!

Ages (like months) ago I participated in the coolest group break ever, and never got a chance to show off the loot I scored.  Ted at Crinkly Wrappers has hosted several awesome breaks, and when I saw this one I had to get in on it.  It was all game used, autos, and vintage cards, with participants making picks in rounds much like a draft.  I got some great cards and in the next few posts I am going to show them off.

I remember watching Sean Burroughs play in the Little League World Series when I was younger.  It was cool to see him in the big leagues for the first time, and actually recognize a kid who "made it."  That's part of the reason I chose this card.

I have a feeling someone will make me a trade offer for this Tyler Colvin card.
Dan Haren Legendary Cuts.  Also for trade.
And a card for my player collection, little Roy.  I like the stripe on the right hand side of the piece of jersey.  Oswalt pitched tonight and got a no decision.  He had a no-hitter through five.  A very good sign for the Phillies, as he appears to be "back" after tough injuries. His fastball hit about 94 on the gun.
That's it for tonight! It's still raining.  I hope I don't have to hitch a boat ride to get to work tomorrow!

  1. The weather really is unreal. They're evacuating people like crazy where I grew up. The rain just doesn't want to move out of the area.
