Tuesday Tidbits and a Few Ginter Gets

The Phillies have lost two in a row since clinching the NL East Title for the fifth time in a row on Saturday.  I'm trying to not worry too much, considering they have also clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs, but it would be nice to surpass that 102 wins for 2011 and set a new team record.

Of course I wouldn't be saying this if it were MY team, but I like that there is some interesting competition going on for wild card spots.  The Red Sox fans must be shaking in their clam chowder.  If the Rays stay hot, and the Red Sox stay cold, we could be witnessing one of the worst September collapses in the history of baseball.  It's going to be a fun race to the finish.

How is YOUR team doing?

On to baseball cards.  Here are some Ginter cards to highlight.  These are from a retail box.

It's cards like these that make me want to chase insert sets, at minimum.  Look kids! Baseball players, and a chance to learn too!  Read all about Marie Curie here, if you are so inclined.
A baboon?  Gorilla?  Sasquatch?
I'd like to take this Arod card opportunity to congratulate Mariano Rivera on 602 saves.  Amazing! We won't see this again in our lifetime.
I still don't have the Roy Halladay version of this card.  That must change, Roy is for sure a hometown hero.
These were the Phillies I pulled.  Jimmy Rollins going healthy into the playoffs is the greatest thing that could happen for the Phils.  He is invaluable.  Victorino has been in the MVP talks, but a stint on the DL earlier this season could prohibit that.   Polanco has also battled injuries this year, but he has still be one of the team's best hitters.
If someone said to me that I'd have the chance to pull a card of "Supernanny" Jo Frost from this year's Allen & Ginter set, I'd say of course, it's Ginter, after all.
These are great looking cards of great players that I decided to scan.  I guess they were a few of the best base cards I pulled from the box so here they are.

It's raining here in Maryland. Again!  Happy Tuesday everyone.

  2. My Braves are choking in the dust your Phillies are kicking up! But I'm sure you already knew that.

I love the inclusion of Jo Frost in this year's A&G. I haven't looked recently, but I hope the prices of her relic and auto card have come down as I want them. Kinda ashamed to admit that!

  3. Reds bad. Tigers good! (Ah, the perks of having two true favorites.)
