When I went to a local monthly card show last month, I spent a good deal of time there. Maybe around three hours or so, just looking through cards. I went to what I thought was every table of interest, until I was leaving and I spotted one more I missed.
This dealer had some newer stuff, which I was glad about, since that is my preference. When he asked what I was looking for, I told him some of the players in my player collection, starting with Roy Halladay, of course.
"Roy Halladay," he said. "I just pulled a 1/1 2011 Update printing plate this week."
I had already spent a decent amount of money at the show, but now I knew there was a possibility I'd be spending a bit more.
I got a pretty good deal on it, but the main thing for me was that I got to hold it and look at it before buying it--something that purchasing cards on eBay does not allow for. A goal of my collecting was to one day get a Halladay 1/1--or two or three 1/1s, I just didn't expect to get it that day.
Here it is, in all its glory.

I hope to acquire many more 1/1s, but we'll see if that works out. It would be cool to get all the colors of this particular card. Needless to say, I was meant to have this one.
So this was the longest I've gone without posting. Life was getting in the way of collecting and blogging (how dare it!) so I took a few days off. I hope to get back to posting more regularly this week. I certainly have enough drafts almost ready to go.
I hate to admit it, but I'm enjoying watching the World Series. The games are reallyfun to watch.
Sweet plate, congrats on nabbing it!
