Anyway, here are some cards I found in a quarter box at the card show last month. Decent finds, if I do say so myself. Fans of vintage: enjoy!
Card one is Matty Alou. I found this card in pretty good shape. Matty Alou was the 1966 NL batting champion.
Tom Seaver is cool, even though he has a Mets hat on. I thought the top half of this card was in pretty good shape so I grabbed it.
Sigh. Someone took a crayon to this one, but it was too old to pass up. Plus it has a Yankee on it, and vintage Yankees are always a good thing.I thought I should have at least one Bob Gibson card in my collection, even if his face is creased. This is actually my second Gibson, as he makes an appearance on the card above.
A really poorly cut Jack Baldschun card. All I cared about was that he had a Phillies uniform on!
Not vintage, but older cards that I thought were cool. Rickey Henderson is as cool as the other side of the pillow.
I am amazed at how much Dennis Eckersley has not aged. Looking at him on tv, you'd think he was ageless! His hair is exactly the same, he doesn't appear to have a wrinkle on his face, but he does wear really bad suits and ties.
Eckersley has also been in the news a bit recently. With Verlander winning the AL Cy Young and the AL MVP, the comparison to Eckersley has been made, as he did the same thing in 1992.
LOL on your fashion critique of ecks. maybe he gets his fashion advice from the same guru who told him to try throwing a backdoor slider past gibson in the fall classic.
ReplyDeleteAwesome vintage! I have started a vintage PC myself. I love kicking it old school.
ReplyDeleteFor old toys, "vintage" mean anything before 1970. I choose to use that cutoff also. Another logical cutoff would be pre-1981, when Topps had their monopoly.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Matty Alou just passed away earlier this month?
You can't beat vintage for a quarter.
