Mail From Topps

Ahh, the Diamond Giveaway.  It all seems so long ago now, when many of us were anxious to unlock the diamond die cut cards and the good vintage stuff.  Now we have the Golden Giveaway.  I wonder if 2013 will be the Platinum Giveaway? Titanium Giveaway?

The cards featured on this post are some the cards I redeemed from the Diamond Giveaway.  Above we have a 1982 Steve Carlton highlights card.  To the right of that is a 1964 Steve Ridzik, from what was then the Washington Senators.  The back of the card features a space where you can rub a coin and get the "magic" answer to the question: Who received the most intentional walks in a game?  Needless to say, it's not rubbed off.  The corners of the card are incredibly sharp for its age.  The centering isn't bad, either.
Next up is a 1969 Jose Vidal of the then Seattle Pilots, and a 1973 Ernie McAnally (holy crap I just read his last name again and I now feel like a 10 year old child because I chuckled) of the Montreal Expos card.  So far I've shown three cards of players from teams that no longer exist.
Well here are two teams that still do exist.  1974 Ramon Hernandez and a 1969 Dave Adlesh.  No funny last names there, but the corners are, once again, sharp.
1973 Stephen Braun of the Twins.  Not sure if there is a relation to Ryan or not.  Probably just a coincidence.
And finally, a 1952 Topps Bill Rigney.  I was concerned about the condition that this card would arrive in, but I was very pleased.  The corners are very sharp, and there are no creases. It's cool to have a 1952 Topps in the collection, even if it isn't the Mantle.

I also got a complete set in the mailing, but I didn't think I needed to show you all that. It's in a box, after all.

I'm working on updating my for trade list, and I am working on a want list too.  I will have lots of posts coming up with stuff I've pulled from my 2012 rips.  I also went to a card show this weekend where I picked up a few things, but mostly stuff for other people!  As always, thanks for reading the blog.

  1. That Ridzik is great.

The Rigney is too, but it's a 52 Topps card, not Bowman. Those are awesome. I got one in the Million Card Giveaway last year.
