On Bryce Harper: A Poll

This is the first ever poll on the Funner Blog so I suppose it is some sort of momentous occasion. Except it really isn't.

My post yesterday about Bryce Harper sparked a bit of debate in the comments (just a bit-nothing big). It got me wondering what others think about him. Am I not giving him a chance? If you feel so inclined, please take the poll below. Feel free to expand your vote by commenting!

  1. I don't care how he acts. He's uber-talented, and I believe that will translate on the field when it's all said and done.

  2. Whenever someone like Harper pops up, I wish Bob Gibson was still on the mound.

  3. Harper should clean the fungus off his shower shoes. Until he hits .330 with 30 home runs and 130 RBI, he's just a messy, dirty person.

  4. I just can't get over the fact that his signing bonus (out of high school, mind you) was for more money than I will ever see in my entire life. And I've got a freaking Master's degree.

So, my vote should have been "I'm just bitter and jealous."

  5. I think it's kinda like first impressions are everything. If the first thing you see about someone is a negative then all you will see from that person, no matter what good they do, will be negatives to support that original impression. Here's a link to an article last summer that talks about Harper's humbleness.

And I can find more like this. He's just in the public eye with the hype and he's sooo young.

  6. Don Drysdale dreamt of this kind of hitter walking to the plate.
