Before I begin, I had a fleeting thought. In perusing my Facebook news feed tonight, it seems that one out of every three status updates I read from friends involve how they are looking forward to cocktails tonight or how they need a drink due to the long week and the stress that came along with it. That's all well and good, but I cannot relate. Drinking really does nothing for me, but sorting through, blogging about, reading about, organizing, and trading baseball cards is kind of like my "having a drink." I bet if you ask most women my age what they were doing on a Friday night very, very, few would say messing with baseball cards. But that's ok, I like to be different. If you ask those same people what they were doing on Saturday, I bet even less would say they were getting up earlier than usual and heading to a big baseball card show. That either makes me a crazy dedicated, or just plain crazy collector.
I haven't been very good at keeping up with my trade posts, and I do apologize for that. So I figured I'd give everyone a shout out in one post. These bloggers are awesome to trade with, extremely generous, and just all around good people. Actually, every single person I have ever traded with via this blog fits that description, no bull. The thank yous are in no particular order, and inevitably I will forget someone, so let me know if I do.
Thanks to Kyle at Just a Bit Outside. I still owe Kyle cards, and hopefully I will get something trade worthy to send back really soon.
Thanks to Greg at Night Owl Cards for the unexpected package of awesome I received a few days ago.
Thanks to Ted at Crinkly Wrappers for another unexpected package of awesome. I've said it here before and I will continue to say it: Ted has played an integral part in the growth of my Halladay collection, and has sent me probably close to or exceeding a hundred Halladay cards.
Thanks to Weston at Fantastic Catch for contacting me with a trade offer. I was able to help him with some set needs, and he sent me some great cards for my player collections.
Brian at Pirates Treasure Room and I are in the middle of a trade right now. I just received a box from Brian yesterday, and the contents blew me away! I am glad I am going to a show tomorrow, I definitely need to stock up on some good Pirates cards to send back!
The guys at Community Gum are great to do business with. They rip some great product, and I will be featuring the two Strasburg cards I purchased from them in upcoming posts.
Thanks also to Rob, at Blue Batting Helmet. Rob contacted me about a trade and sent me a bunch of cards and in turn I sent him a bunch of Cubs cards.
Thanks again, everyone. I really hope I didn't forget anyone, I tried to get everyone I've traded with or that has sent me cards recently mentioned!
I have so many Halladay cards to enter into my spreadsheet, I have no idea when I am going to find the time! That's a good problem to have, though.
Big show in Virginia tomorrow!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the package I sent. Enjoy the show
ReplyDeleteIf I can hold on for three more weeks, I'll have a show to get up early in the morning for myself. At last, a GOOD reason to get up early.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was looking at facebook earlier and I didn't see anyone mentioning baseball cards... I enjoy a drink myself, but its best when its on a coaster next to a binder and a stack of cards!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the show!
Thanks for the thanks. By the way, we at CG are with you on the drinking front, although I can't say I get to spend too many friday nights with cards unfortunately.
