I am pretty sure someone else has posted with this theme, but I've had this draft ready for a bit now and it's my turn! When I saw the design of this year's Heritage set, my first thought was, huh, that looks familiar. There is a reason for that thought, of course.
Above we have the current design, which looks strikingly like a card I have had in my collection for over 15 years...A Rusty Staub rookie card! I got this when I was a kid, at a card show, for who knows how much money. I like how the card design has come full circle (ha, no pun intended), and is now featured on modern day cards. Take the fading away, and Topps did a pretty good job replicating these cards.
I even scanned the back in case anyone was interested in seeing that, too. The card is in decent shape considering how old it is. Definitely an important part of my very small vintage collection. I'm more of a modern card collecting chick.
Not sure if I've mentioned it on the blog yet, but I am going to Opening Day at Camden Yards on Friday. I am really excited--I have never been to an Opening Day. Not only that, but I am also going to Camden Yards on Sunday for the game. It will be fun spending Easter at the ballpark! I will, of course, have pictures to post after these events.
hooray for going to opening day ! i wont get to the official opening day because bud selig never lets the Dodgers open at home, as we always have to help fill the seats for another club. but i will go out to the home opener. almost just as good ! still worth a hoooorrraaayyyyy for us !! ENJOY :)
ReplyDeleteOpening Day! Congrats. I've only been to one opening day. The Rangers got beat, I think it was 11-1 and they didn't get a hit until the 7th inning. It sure put a damper on my enthusiasm. I hope you have better luck!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be sooooooo bored going to an Orioles game. :P
ReplyDeleteHa! Naaahhh. Going with friends who are big time hecklers :-)
