How about some low end, cheap cards that I have really taken to? 2012 Panini Triple Play, it is!
I happened upon these .99 cent packs by chance. I didn't even know the product existed, actually. I figured for a buck I couldn't go wrong, so I bought two packs. With two bucks I couldn't really go wrong, either.
The product is certainly marketed towards kids, which works out for adult collectors too because the price point is just right. I can see something like this being the start for a young kid's baseball card collection. The cards are bright, fun, and they even make 9 piece puzzles! For being non-licensed, I think they look just as good, if not better, than some cards on the market today. Speaking of puzzles....I can think of nothing I want more with these cards than to make the Roy Halladay puzzle and view it in a 9 pocket sheet. The only problem is that I do not have any puzzle pieces for that. Do you?
Also featured in the packs are stickers, eyeblacks, and tattoos!
Here we have the non-licensed version of a game used card. It's a piece of a baseball bat! How...bland?
Ever want to know how a baseball bat is made? Here is the educational part of this set. Look for pieces of bases, gloves, and batting gloves, too.
Posey and Jeter. I think Jeter looks pretty much nothing like Jeter. Isn't his face a bit more elongated than what is depicted?Legends also make an appearance, as is shown with Gwynn above. The Hosmer is a "Focus" insert.
The McCutchen artwork is spot on.
Did I mention I want the Halladay puzzle pieces, of which there are nine?
So who is featured on the pack? Josh Hamilton, minus tattoos. Although there are tattoos in the packs. Hmm.
I guess his tattoos wouldn't sign a licensing agreement.
ReplyDeleteMy thought exactly.
DeleteGood stuff! I'm hoping I have enough cash by the end of the week to grab a pack or two.
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm that poor.
They were actually really fun to open...better than dollar store packs and...cheaper!!!
