Hope Springs Eternal

First off, way to go Ravens, winning 44-13 and looking like a very elite NFL team. The Ravens seemed to play as good as anyone in week one. But, we all know the season is young. For the Ravens, hope for another Super Bowl ring springs eternal and the game tonight was a great start.

The Eagles, on the other hand, played terribly in a 17-16 win over the Browns. Michael Vick had 4 interceptions, but I guess the positive to take away from the game is that he is not (yet) on the injured list. Vick is sort of made of porcelain. It seems each time he is sacked he cracks a rib or three. For the Eagles, hope springs eternal that Vick stays healthy and starts throwing the ball to the guys in green rather than the opponents. Someone needs to remind him that is the object of the game.

How about the Phillies! Yes, hope springs eternal for the...Phillies? Sure. The Phillies had a horrific first half of the season, but have come back with a small vengeance in the second half. They are right now winners of thirteen of their last seventeen and they have brought their record to 70-71. Most importantly, however, they are now just 5 1/2 games behind the Cardinals for an NL Wildcard slot, with 23 games left. Difficult, but doable.

Happy Sports-tember! There are so many great games going on right now I have trouble deciding which to watch. It's a good problem to have.
