Ahhh yes, the ebbs and flows of life.
The ebbs and flows of jobs, family, hobbies, and...baseball.
All good things surely do come to an end, and it is sinking in deep now that the Phillies run of five consecutive playoff appearances has all but ended. Currently coolstandings.com has them at a .1% chance of getting a playoff spot. I assume that once the game tonight is over, a game where they are losing 7-3 to the first place Nationals in the 7th inning, they will be all but eliminated.
It's been a disappointing season, but let's face it--the Phillies had a good run. Five consecutive division titles is nothing to be ashamed of. Two World Series appearances in back to back years, and one World Series win is an amazing accomplishment.
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." If there was any question as to whether or not this blog was written by a female that quote just answered it, right guys?
Let's get nostalgic, shall we? Maybe not in order, though.
This was World Series Game 1 in 2009. At Yankee Stadium.
This was in the fall of 2010, the NLCS game 1.
And then there was that one time in 2010 when blog hero Roy Halladay threw a post season no hitter. The second in baseball history.
This is the exact second the Phillies won the World Series in 2008.
This was the final box score after the big World Series win in 2008.
2010 NLCS. Beautiful view.
Outside of Yankee Stadium before Game 3.
Like I said, it's been a great run. I love this team more than ever, and I have to think good things are on the horizon.
It's been a rough year, but then again, having Ruf next year gives me hope for the future.
Hey, nothing wrong with a good Theodor Seuss Geisel quote!!!
