Bold Predictions vs. Actual Results: NL

Even back on April 7, 2012 it seemed that things would not be as expected in MLB this season.  Boy how right that was.

On April 4, 2012, I made my predictions on how I thought the results of the divisions would play out by the end of the season.  Amazingly, I had the Oakland A's winning the AL West, and the Baltimore Orioles getting a Wildcard spot.  I also had the Washington Nationals winning the NL East and having one of the best records in baseball this year.
HA HA!!! I kid, of course.
My predictions were probably just as bad as many others who made predictions at the beginning of the season.

NL East
Philadelphia Phillies................Washington Nationals
Washington Nationals..............Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Braves..........................Philadelphia Phillies
Miami Marlins............................CORRECT
New York Mets..........................CORRECT

NL East results: 2/5.

Below are a few excerpts from my comments that came to fruition:

Comments: I have thought for awhile now that the Nats will come in second place in the division.  Not sure about the Wildcard for them, but that is within reach too I believe.  One thing is for sure: this division is more up in the air than ever before.

NL Central
Milwaukee Brewers.............Cincinnati Reds
St. Louis Cardinals.............St. Louis Cardinals
Cincinnati Reds...................Milwaukee Brewers
Pittsburgh Pirates...........CORRECT
Chicago Cubs.................CORRECT
Houston Astros...............CORRECT

NL Central results: 3/6.

Comments: I believe the Cubs and Astros will be in the basement (duh).

NL West
Arizona Diamondbacks...............San Francisco Giants
San Francisco Giants..................LA Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers..................Arizona Diamondbacks
Colorado Rockies........................San Diego Padres
San Diego Padres.......................Colorado Rockies

NL West Results: 0/5

Comments: I was horrible with this one.

Total Correct Predictions, National League: 5/15 or 33.3% or FAILURE

Maybe the AL predictions will have worked out better for me...

1 comment:

  1. I predicted the Twins would finish 3rd in the AL Central. Instead, they finished dead last in the AL for the 2nd year in a row.
