The Election that Wasn't...and Why That Might Be Alright

I'm sure this has been written about ad nauseum, but I'd like to add my two cents too.

Did you hear? There was a Baseball Hall of Fame ballot that went out today, and the results were shocking to some, disappointing to others, and just plain boring to most.

So no one got elected into the Hall of Fame--baseball's most coveted individual honor.  No one received enough votes to hang inside the legendary Hall alongside the likes of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Mike Schmidt, Cal Ripken, Jr., Frank Robinson, etc.

What does that tell us?

I think it shows that the voters actually care about who is allowed into this hallowed Hall.  PEDs aside, they didn't elect anyone else in either, showing that they understand--or at least recognize--that this is truly a place reserved for the best of the best. If that's the case, I am ok with not electing anyone.  I believe that the integrity of the credentials of those elected into the Hall is of the utmost importance, as I suspect most believe.

Just my two cents.
