Good evening folks. It's been quite a day. We have gotten over 20 inches of snow here in the Baltimore suburbs, and it is still snowing. I've shoveled a few times but whatever is left can certainly wait until the morning. I've also been messing around with some piles of cards.
I have two cats, which I am sure I have mentioned on the blog before, but my one cat, Hershey, has a penchant for knocking over my piles of cards, and then batting them around. It might sound cute and all, but he knows it annoys me and gets my attention, which is all he really wants. He also likes to chew on penny sleeves. What a weirdo, right? But he runs the house so sometimes I just give in and let him do it. This is him:
Does anyone else have a pet that likes to "help" sort cards?
Switching gears a bit, I wanted to show some sweet Roy Halladay serial numbered high end cards I got from a trade on Twitter with Brandon. Brandon is a Red Sox collector and he responded when I asked if anyone has any 2011 Halladay Triple Threads base cards. He had three! Little did I know he had way more Halladay stuff too. You guys know I treat Halladay serial numbered stuff as 1/1s, so this was a sweet haul.
First up, three Museum Collection cards...a base, emerald, and gold! Love these.
And then...
The original cards in the trade, three more /1500 base 2011 Triple Threads cards. Brings my grand total owned to three more than whatever total I had before, haha. I have to count and I am not doing it now. Suffice it to say my percentage owned has risen.2013 Triple Threads purple /650, and a base.
Brandon asked if I wanted these as well, and of course I did! I am actually accruing a nice little collection of 2011 Triple Threads sepia Roy Halladay cards as I continue on my quest to get as many base as possible.
Finally, sepia and green 2012 Triple Threads made an appearance in the envelope too. Thanks for the trade, Brandon!
Today on Facebook I read that A.J. Burnett would not be wearing #34 for the Phillies. A blogger proposed the question: should Roy Halladay's number be retired by the Phillies? My opinion on this might surprise some people, because I am not entirely sure it should be. Roy only spent a few years with the organization, and while he did pitch a perfect game and a playoff no-hitter (amazing feats, of course), I am not sure that due to his tenure with the team having his number retired is appropriate. I think the Blue Jays should retire his number, but the Phillies? Ehhh...something just doesn't sit well with me when I think about it.
Tawnie likes to tear up paper - any paper. Envelopes, bags, receipts and yes - cards. I have given her an 89 Topps or Score card from time to time.
