Since I'm not working I'm debating on what productive things to do today, so as I sit here procrastinating, what better time to do a blog post.
The other day I went to Wal-Mart and at the same time I bought the box of 2009 Upper Deck, I also picked up a rack pack of 2010 Bowman Platinum. The J-Hey kid is featured on the packages, which include three purple refractors as part of the "value pack" promo. The pack cost $8.98.
I think I've said it before but I love this set! I don't typically spend nine bucks on just three packs (with no guaranteed hits) but I guess you can say I splurged on this one. This, along with the Topps Sterling set has a sort of prestige to it that I like. I didn't pull anything to write home about, but I did get some nice cards, nonetheless. Here are a few highlights:
Some nice USA cards, and a Pujols base, which are always nice to get.
Mr. Crawford, Daniel Nava, and John Lamb. Admittedly, I am not a Red Sox fan, but I do like this Nava kid. I was watching the game on tv when he hit the grand slam on the first pitch in his first at bat in the majors. It was against the Phillies too. That had to be the best feeling ever, a sort of dream come true type scenario for him. Anyway, I like the card and I'm glad to add it to my collection.
I also pulled a Kyle Drabek, and the three purple refractors I got were pretty common players, except for the Dustin Ackley I got. I'm not going to be buying too much of this product, but damn are these nice to have.
In other news, did you know that it is New Year's Eve? I'm not one to make resolutions, in fact, I consider NYE just another day on the calendar, and New Year's Day the same. I understand why people make resolutions, I'm just not one of those people. If you are, best of luck to you in keeping those resolutions!
I do wish a great 2011 for all of you out in the blogosphere, and I thank all you who take the time to read my little blog. I certainly enjoy reading yours. I'm having a blast collecting again, and I thank all of those who I have traded with so far, and I look forward to interacting and trading even more in the days and months ahead.
Happy New Year!
Even though I've been a Phillies fan my whole life, I was watching that game, and that hit was freaking awesome. To make it to the big show, see that little white ball come at you for the first time, and knock the snot out of it... WOW!
ReplyDeleteGreat hit.
HapLEE New Year!
