Hobby Box Break of "That New Set That Came Out for 2011"

AKA 2011 Topps. I was afraid if I put 2011 Topps in the title, no one would read the post due to the overkill of all us bloggers and collectors breaking packs, boxes, blasters, blah blah blah.

Add me to the list, because this afternoon I bought a hobby box at my local card shop.  I pulled some cool cards, including several of these really shiny things that I hear some people (ok, many) are collecting. I don't know how I am going to divide these between everyone who is collecting them, but I can be easily swayed with very large sums of cash or baseball cards of Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt, Ryan Zimmerman, and/or Stephen Strasburg.   Or first come, first served, which is the most fair way to do it.

Here are some highlights in the box, including a HOFer hit:

Original Backs

60th Anniversary back

Great minis.

These are so ugly I am going to chase this insert set.

ZOMG Strasburg. Plus one for my player collection.

Clifton

Strasburger Mini

I've decided to chase all of the team cards in the set, so the shiny team cards are not for trade.

Can you see the similarity in the team cards? Yup, all of the cards depict team celebrations. Although the Mets don't have much to jump for joy for right now...

The Hit!

More on my plans for the 2011 set in another post, hopefully tomorrow.

  1. If there's any chance you would trade away those mini's, let me know... I'm sure we could make a deal! Thanks. samuelpair@yahoo.com

  2. Believe it or not, at least for the time being, recent posts with "2011 Topps" in the title are still getting double the traffic of anything else for me.

I'm actually very happy that people are enthusiastic about the set, after some of the 2010 debacles in the mainstream card business, especially the late ones (the mess with the Chrome product, people hating on Platinum The Unscannable and that Sam Bradford 1/1 business). I'm not really feeling the "Wow, it's been a week already? BACKLASH!" that some seem to be. It's a good product. It's OK for us to enjoy it!

You got some cool cards out of that box, congrats!

  5. LOL @ the Mets celebration. They haven't had anything to celebrate since 1986. Well, maybe their new stadium because it's pretty awesome...

  6. I have a Strasburg Wal-Mart black border, if you're interested.
