Concerning 2011 Topps, should I buy:
--A Blaster Box
--Rack Packs
--Loose Packs
And why? I have always just bought blasters, but reading some other blogs I have seen some successes come from racks and loose packs. Does anyone have a theory/strategy when it comes to buying retail? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences if you'd be willing to share.
I think there is some game going on tonight. Here is my feeling about it:
I focus on rack packs. They're cheaper than buying blasters, and if you don't care about the throwback or black cards and the manupatch, it's a better deal.
ReplyDeleteI've got a post breaking down what you get with 4 rack packs vs. 1 blaster (same basic cost) from Target. Look for it to go live on Tuesday...but the main conclusion is exactly what Night Owl said - rack packs are better for almost all purposes (though you can't discount the possibility of flipping the manupatch on eBay...thus lowering costs).
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. I am going to run to Target to get some cards to open during the game tonight. I appreciate your comments!
ReplyDeleteI too prefer the rack packs, but I don't skip the single packs either. I like the store exclusive inserts in those packs. Plus at 2 bucks I can sneak one in the cart when I'm shopping w/ the wife!
ReplyDeleteI'm a set-builder, and with rack packs, you can get twice as many base cards as the blaster. The last blaster I got of Topps gave me just as many inserts as base cards, which makes it difficult to put the set together.
ReplyDeleteJust my two cents, I think the answer depends on when the question is asked.
ReplyDeleteFor 2011 now I'd say go racks and singles. The later it goes gives rat bastard pack searchers a chance to damage all those cards so I would switch to blasters.
