My Topps Diamond Giveaway Loot So Far

****First, a request: If you aren't playing the Diamond Giveaway game, and you have unused cards with the codes on them, I will gladly trade you for them. I don't even want the cards, just the codes. Email me at perfecthalladay at gmail dot com. ****

I freaking love diamonds. I love collecting cards, and I love baseball.  A perfect storm. Maybe that is why I am so sucked into this game?  I don't know, but it's fun.  I am sure that it is quite difficult to get the Topps Diamond Ring, but it is interesting to try. I'm not even sure I fully know the rules to this game yet, but I'm just going with it.  I know you input codes, get a card that you can trade or redeem (similar to the Million Card Giveaway), and then you get to "dig" up a baseball field to see what you find.  Then you can trade your cards and your rings--although that part isn't live yet.  My understanding is that you have to have unique rings in order to win the big prizes.  I have redeemed 14 codes so far and have gotten 13 unique rings.  Up until now, I've won a few things:

When you hit 5 on the meter you win a free code and a free card.  When you hit 10 on the meter you win a $10 e-gift code to the Topps store. I figure ten bucks might cover the cost of shipping for something from there! I was really shocked that I won the ten bucks to the Topps Store. Has anyone else won this? I mean, is it the norm and I wasn't at all lucky?  Just curious to know what others have unlocked so far.

Some of the rings are really unique:

Isn't this Babe Ruth ring nice looking?  And here are two more old school rings I have unlocked:

My dupe ring is the Tampa Bay Rays.  Once trading is open I will try to trade it for something else.

Anyway, I want to own that ring at the top of the meter on the right.  A check of eBay to see the going rate for unused code cards tells me there are lots of people interested in this game as well. One auction I just found has 100 unused code cards for $299.99 buy it now.  Now remember you do get baseball cards to redeem too, but three hundred bucks? I'd buy hobby boxes instead and try my luck at pulling a bunch of these Diamond Giveaway cards.

My next level to win is 15, so I need two more unique rings. At that point I get a "skin-it."  After that it seems there is nothing until the big prize.  Don't think I haven't thought about going out to buy a blaster today!  We'll see what kind of self-restraint I can exhibit, especially since I just busted a value box of 2011s!  Two codes were had there.

I'm really not even caring about the cards I unlock, because I know the S & H fees now from the MCG.  That said, the oldest card I've gotten so far is a 1973 Ernie Macanally. Yawn.

I'd love to hear your experiences with this game so far, and if you aren't playing this and have some unused codes, let's trade!

  1. I think you automatically get the e-gift item once you hit 10. I've only got 6 because I'm not really collecting the set.

I was happy with the old Million Card Giveaway site. I just care about the old cards and trading. The ring feature is nice if you like that stuff. The only duplicate ring I have is of the Yankees. Can't wait to get rid of that thing.
