Remember When We Were Excited For 2011 Topps Series 1?

During the Great Blogger Outage of May 2011, I managed to FINALLY score some Gypsy Queen (Or gypsies, tramps, and thieves cards in my head).  It seems that my Targets STILL haven't gotten them in stock.  The fourth Target I tried had blasters and loose packs.  I'll be posting on the blaster results soon, and two packs are heading to Derek as payment for our bet!

On to the post...

Many of us couldn't get enough of Series 1 way back when (or just a few months ago). I know I couldn't. I have tons of 2011 Series 1 cards, so why not add to the collection and buy a rack pack?  Admittedly I bought this rack pack to try my luck at scoring a diamond giveaway code card, which I did. 


I love playing that game. I have over 400 offers for my Babe Ruth ring.  Is is that rare?  I know the Mantle ring is like one in a bajillion or something.

I didn't get anything too special, but I still scanned the cards for your viewing pleasure. As has been customary with this set, I went back twice to see if I missed any "twinks," or the diamond sparkle variation cards that we have grown to know and love.  Low and behold, there were none.  I'm pretty sure they are hobby exclusive anyway.

Here are the inserts I got.  If anyone needs any let me know.

In other news only other Phillies fans and I probably care about, the Phillies are getting some big time players back in the lineup really soon.  What's scary/nice/interesting is that they have the best record in baseball with many of their big names out of the lineup.  As of yesterday, Ruiz, Utley, Oswalt, Brown, Contreras, and Lidge were all still on the DL.  Ruiz will be back tonight hopefully, Utley is progressing well, Oswalt still has some issues with his fastball, Brown is rehabbing his hand, and I have no clue about Contreras or Lidge, but we do need them back since our bullpen is kind of iffy.

    I have to wonder if the Ruth ring is a rarity like the Mantle because I too see all those offers. In fact, I don't even really look at them anymore - I'm not trading my rings away unless I have extras.

    And I saw some loose packs of GQ in one of the three local Targets once, but I'm holding out for a blaster or at least a rack pack. Not that I really need it!

    I don't think Ruth is that are...a few sold on eBay for a few bucks. I get an equally large amount of offers for my Reggie and Gerhig as I do for my Ruth.

    Yeah I get a ton for my Ruth as well. I think it's just the name that people want. The Mantle is the only SP for the rings according to everything I have seen.

    As far as Series 1 goes, I avoided it when it came out and focused on Opening Day (which I just about have the master set complete). Now I am hooked on the value packs though and will probably complete Series 1 through those.
