Checking Out 2011 Attax, and A Man Who Kept His Word

I've seen others post about 2011 Attax, and I decided I like the card design.  I am not an Attax enthusiast, if you will, but for $3.99 for a rack pack I figured I'd get some and see what I came up with.

I think the mascot cards are great, and the ballpark cards too.  The backgrounds of the player cards stand out, and the McCutcheon card is a foil.  The corners of the cards are rounded, so no messed up corners here!  Another cool thing about these cards is that there is a snippet of a fact about the featured player many of the cards.

Take, for example, the following:

Vladimir Guerrero's fact:  ".320 career batter who once golfed a home run by hitting a pitch that bounced."
Jorge Posada's fact: "Has belted more home runs than any other switch hitting catcher in history."
Howie Kendrick: "Once caught foul ball in stands, where he collided with actor Ben Affleck."

Little bits of knowledge you can impress your friends with.  Or at least think you are impressing your friends.

Quite possibly the most interesting story is found on the back of the Topps Town card that was in the pack.  TT-38 Justin Verlander (is this worth $$$$$ since he just threw a no-hitter again? I'm kidding).  Read the story below:

Wow, Verlander pitches two no- hitters in his career, and is a man of his word too.

Good guy all the way around--I wish he was my friend, I'd make bets with him all the time!

  1. I love it when companies put little nuggets of information like this on cards. The Verlander card is awesome!
