My Baseball Hero

When I met Roy Halladay I actually did tell him he was my hero.  I don't know whether I looked like a total tool (likely), but regardless he smiled and said thank you even if I did.

Baseball Heroes by Upper Deck is a very interesting set. I posted on it awhile back, noting how many different numbered parallels there are in the set, and how it might be virtually impossible to obtain all the cards you seek.

Every time I see a numbered Halladay for a reasonable price from this set I jump on it.  This time it was the red variation, commemorating his 2003 Cy Young Award win. It was only a buck fifty shipped.  It is #209/249.

The Phillies couldn't quite finish the sweep of the Red Sox, but it was a good series.  Cliff Lee was awesome, Vance Worley was great, and Cole Hamels was great until he got hit with a line drive in his non-throwing hand and had to leave the game.

Things have seemed to quiet down a bit here in blog-land. I guess lots of people are on vacation?

I haven't ripped a pack in like four days and I think I am going through withdrawal!  That might have to change this weekend.

  1. Yeah, the boys had some good solid hits today, straight at the Sawx!! Sometimes things just don't go your way, or in this case, they went the Sawx way today!! But damn, did you see that ball Hamels caught, I mean, damn, damn, double damn that was a pretty shot!! And the look on Scutaro's face!! He was all, oh SNAP, did that just happen. Last night was a good game too... at least we got the series, and we are the first to 50!!
