The Tigers were Tigers, and the Angels were No Angels

I bought a value pack thing at Target some time ago and I haven't had a chance to post on it yet.  There was some halfway decent cards in the value pack...I have a few posts worth of stuff. It's all of it for trade unless otherwise noted.

I finally have some time to devote to trading and collecting since softball is now over for the summer.  I was playing 4 days/nights a week, sometimes up to 10 games per week.  Between that, work, life, etc., it has been hard to focus on trading and collecting and blogging.  That said, if you have mailed me a trade package and haven't gotten anything back from me yet, it's on the way!

Chrome, base, and gold.
I love this UD Icons set.
I like the set even more when I pull a numbered parallel.
I pulled a Verlander from the Icons pack.  Speaking of Verlander, did you all see what happened today in the Angels/Tigers game? Verlander had a no hitter going into the 8th, and the inning before there was a little argument between Jered Weaver and Magglio Ordonez.  Ordonez stared at his homer, then stared at Weaver, and Weaver took exception to this.  Warnings were given, and then Weaver retaliated by throwing at the next batter's head.  He was immediately ejected, and walked off the field giving the Tiger's bench a mouthful.

So yeah, the no-hitter into the 8th.  It's pretty much an unwritten rule in baseball that you do not try to break up a no-hitter in late innings with a bunt.  So given the argument the inning before, what did the Angels do? They bunted, of course!  It's a wonder things didn't get more crazy after that.  The Tigers wound up winning the game, but you can expect the next time these teams play each other that there will some fireworks and hit batters.

  2. Ordonez hit a HR earlier in the game and apparently stared to make sure it was fair or foul. Carlos Guillen was the one who blatantly showboated his HR which cause Weaver to throw at the next guy.

Also, I'm with Harold Reynolds on the bunt. If it were a no-hitter and the score was out of reach then don't bunt but this was a 3-0 game. After that bunt they scored 2 so it was a good baseball play.

  3. Was at the game. Ordonez watched the ball and walked slowly down the line to see if the ball would be fair or foul. The next time up, Ordonez flew out and was yelled at by Weaver as he walked back to the dugout which prompted Gullen's showboating after his home run.

This will continue on for some time. Guillen obviously gets thrown at the next time the Tigers play the Angels. Aybar also said that Verlander told him on the field that they would settle this the next time they face each other so apparently Verlander is going to throw at Aybar his next opportunity.

    Must see tv!

  4. Yea there's video on MLB Network where Verlander was yelling at Aybar from the dugout saying he was going to hit him between the numbers next time he sees him. What sucks is I don't think they play again till next season (accruing to Intentional Talk) unless they meet in the playoffs.
