Not Dickie Thon, but Domingo Santana. This might be his last Phillies card, however. He was the "player to be named later" in the Hunter Pence trade. The kid is 19 years old and has some potential. Hopefully he succeeds in Houston along with the rest of the Phillies former top prospects.
Not Dickie Thon, but Clifton Phifer Lee. Cliff takes the mound tonight versus the Mets. He needs to come out firing, because this past series against the Nationals sucked. A walk off grand slam and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to win the game. Ridiculous. This is definitely not Dickie Thon. This is a Roy Halladay box topper that I have no clue how to store because of its awkward size.
Andrew Carpenter has made a few appearances with the big club. Not as many as Dickie Thon did, however.Michael Bourn. He's faster than Dickie Thon was. He's now a Brave, too.
Everything I know about Bryan Morgado I learned from baseball-reference.com: Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 34th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft, the Chicago White Sox in the 3rd round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft and the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft. Also, he is not Dickie Thon.
The legend, Robin Roberts. I will not demean him by inserting a Dickie Thon reference here.
Roy Oswalt had a nice outing against the Nationals this weekend. It was his game that the Phillies managed to win. It was nice seeing Oswalt back in his true form. In addition, Dickie Thon.Stephen Strasburg is on the way back too. He has had some successful rehab outings. Strasburg was a top pick for the Nationals. Dickie Joe Thon was a 5th round pick in the 2010 draft. Dickie Joe is Dickie Thon's son.
Finally, the star of the post, Dickie Thon. Can't beat that name! He played for the Angels, Astros, Padres, Phillies, Rangers, and Brewers--in that order, as a short stop. He was with the Astros the longest--seven years, and the Phils for three years. I remember him from my youth as a pretty good shortstop. Today he owns several Jiffy Lube Franchises. True story.
Assuming you've read to the post to this point, you've read "Dickie Thon" fifteen times. Does it stick in your head like it does mine?
Dickie Thon. Sixteen. (Ok, I'm done).
Thanks, Scott, for the trade!
