My understanding is that you can only get these in factory team sets? Am I right about this?
I think they are really sharp looking. Only one issue: they seem way overpriced. Take, for example, the Strasburg card above. Right now it is on sale as a buy it now for $29.99. Seems steep to me, for a /245 card, but maybe these cards are harder to come by than I realize?
I'd love to have the card above, and I am thinking of making an offer on it. It's more reasonable at $6.99 buy it now. Actually I'd like to have one of each of the Halladay red borders, since there are versions of each of his cards. Waiting might be a good idea, since the price might come down. But perhaps not. Dilemmas!
Seemingly even more overpriced are the auctions for the team sets of red borders. For a cool $249.99 you can own the whole Yankees set. The Phillies set is being offered at a bargain of $199.99. Am I missing something here? Are they worth that much, or am I just cheap?
A quick search shows that the 2010 equivalent of this card is out of /299. It seems the prices do come down somewhat.
Does anyone own any of these cards?
I don't own one yet, but I placed a bid for a coupe of the Phillies cards on eBay. It's my understanding that new factory sets each contain a pack of them (I don't know how many in a pack). Given you have to open a factory set and then the pack inside to get them, I would say that the print run of 245 makes them sound easier to find than they actually will be.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go ahead and pick up the Prado for around $5 b/c I think they look awesome
