How to Fail at Pre-Season Predictions

Basically, just be me.  Good thing I didn't drop any money on these predictions, because I'd be broke!

Original post can be found here.
The Braves will be good, and I think they give the Phillies a run for their money. I can't say I totally failed at this one, but I don't exactly call losing the division by 13 games a run for their money.

The Phils have to be healthy on all cylinders for things to go really right this season. In the end I think the Phillies pull it out.  Wrong! Wrong, wrong, wrong.  The Phils did not pull it out.  However, I did get the "have to be healthy on all cylinders" comment right.  It turned out they weren't healthy.  Polanco, Pence, Hamels, Howard, Utley...all hurt.

The Orioles will win more than 66 games this season. They will also be more fun to watch (funner, if you will).  Winning!  The O's won 69 games, and they were more fun to watch, unless you are a Red Sox fan.

I think Votto and Chapman have even better seasons and the Reds finish first in the wide open NL Central. The Reds certainly did not finish first.  As for Votto, that prediction turned out to be mostly wrong.  Last year he hit .324.  This year he hit .309.  Last year he had 37 homers.  This year he had 29.  He did have 185 hits as opposed to 177 last year, but he went down in pretty much every category besides that.  You be the judge on Chapman. Here are his stats, courtesy of mlb.com.
I believe the Pirates will lose over 100 games. Again.  Nope, they only lost 90.  Raise the Jolly Roger?

I think it will be a close race for the NL Wildcard with the Rockies edging the Braves.  I just got the team wrong here.  It was the Cardinals edging the Braves.  A close race it was, with it coming down to the very end of the season.

The Yankees will make the playoffs (sigh).  Probably the easiest prediction of them all.

The Giants will be good again.  Some of them were good (Vogelsong).

The Rangers will not be as good again.  Wrong. The Rangers might even be better this year.

It will be a fun season, but that's an easy prediction to make.  You know I got that one right.

Official Funner Baseball Division Predictions
NL EAST: PHILLIES  WIN!

NL CENTRAL: Reds FAIL
NL WEST: Giants      FAIL
NL WC: Rockies        FAIL
...
AL EAST: Red Sox   FAIL
AL CENTRAL: Twins FAIL
AL WEST: A's             FAIL
AL WC: Yankees         FAIL

As you can see, I did a terrible job with my predictions this year.  It was fun though, to look back and remember the preseason thoughts that were there, about how the Giants might make the playoffs again, and the Red Sox would win the division.  Such high hopes for so many teams.  162 games go by fast, don't they?
