Three Go Five

Don't look now, but October baseball is about to get even more interesting and crazy.  I can't say it's funner, because I much prefer non stressful game situations, especially when it comes to the Phillies.

Three of the four division series are now down to a decisive game five.

Win or go home.  This one's for all the marbles.  Celebrate or sulk.  Smile or frown. Win. Or. Go. Home.
For the Phillies, it's HIT or go home. We all know that the pitching staff is all world, the best ever, blah blah blah.  But none of that means anything unless the team can score runs.  It looked promising last night, with the first inning yielding two fast runs for the Phils, but as has been customary this season the bats went cold, and they wound up losing 5-3, with that third run being a gift from the Cards on a wild pitch.
Am I nervous?  No, I am very nervous.  Now is not the time for bats to go cold.  Now is the time for bats to heat up.

First up: The Tigers vs. the Yankees.  I think the Yankees take the series at home in the Bronx.

Next up: The D-backs vs. the Brewers.  I think the D-backs shock the Brew crew at home and take the series, winning 3 in a row after falling behind 2-0.

Finally: The Cardinals vs. the Phillies. I will refrain from making a prediction, but Roy Halladay is pitching and the Phils are at home and...well, I am going to shut up now.
It's going to be very tough to concentrate today and tomorrow.  Come 8:30pm tomorrow night, it's going to be very tough to breathe.  If you have a horse in the race, best of luck. I'm open to hearing any coping techniques you are willing to share.

  1. Well now I get to enjoy some tension in baseball because my horse has already went home.

There's no difference in this than the fun you were enjoying with the end of the season wild card races right? ;-)
