Bowman Platinum

Back to baseball cards, but I might revisit some Wonka stuff this offseason, considering there was some interest in it.  Next up on the baseball card docket are some 2011 Bowman Platinum cards I scored from a retail blaster.  Nothing too amazing was pulled, but I do like the look of these cards.

What can we say about Adam Dunn?  He came into this past season with much money and much expectation and he flopped.  Will he continue to flop? Who knows. Everyone thought Lance Berkman was done, and he was resurrected as a Cardinal.  Maybe Dunn will follow suit. 

And who is going to be Starlin Castro's manager next year?

In 2011 Jordan Pacheco came to the big leagues with the Colorado Rockies on September 6th against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, but he did have a throwing error.  Tyler Skaggs won the Diamondback's Pitcher of the Year award this year.  Dustin Ackley hit a single in his first pro at bat ever against the Roy Oswalt. The nerve!

Blue, gold, red...short prints, although I haven't bothered to look how rare each of them are.  Cool Votto to add to my player collection.

Mark Trumbo led all rookies with 29 home runs and 87 RBI's this season, and he hit .254. He was voted Team MVP of the Angels this year.  Upton had a hell of a season.  He was first in NL in being hit by a pitch--19 times, he was second in the league in doubles with 39 and third in runs scored with 105. He was also third in extra base hits with 75.  There's not much interesting to write about Hank Conger, so just take a look at his nice card.

I've heard rumblings of the Reds wanting to make Aroldis Chapman a starter.  Not sure how he would do as a starter, being the flamethrower he is, with the control problems he has.  Jason Heyward had a pretty disappointing season for the Braves, and the Giants faltered this year too.  Here's a fun fact about Jason Heyward, courtesy of Wikipedia: during Spring Training in March 2010, Heyward hit two notable batting practice home runs. One hit and damaged a Coca-Cola truck in the parking lot, and another broke the sunroof of Atlanta Braves' assistant GM Bruce Manno's car in the same lot. 

That reminds me of the one time I was at a softball tournament on a really hot summer day, and someone hit a foul ball and it smashed my dad's windshield.  Thankfully it wasn't me who hit it.
