I came across a sports card "deal" on Tanga today. Never heard of Tanga? This is what it's all about from the about section of their site:
Amazing Deals!
Tanga is all about saving you money with the best deals you can find on the Internet. Every night at 7:00 p.m. PST we offer you new 24-hour daily deals in Electronics/Gadgets, T-Shirts, Magazines and more.
I read about the deal that offered 2,500-3,000 sports cards for $31.99 plus $4.99 shipping. Not too bad for that many cards, but it's the way they marketed them to the public that got me laughing, and thinking sarcastic things in my head while reading about the "deal."
I decided to have a little fun with Paint and share what I was thinking while reading the blog with you guys. Hey, it's the off season. Hopefully you'll be able to read the writing by clicking on the picture and zooming. If not, then this post is a huge embarrassing failure. Kind of like this "deal."
I think the part that ticked me off the most was the part where they said this deal was a great investment. Plus, they cannot make up their mind as to what the value of this is worth. But somehow it's between $600-$800 bucks according to them.
If you want to buy 3,000 commons, you can do so for the next hour. Thank me later!
Sweet! I knew I needed more Donruss!
ReplyDeletedidn;t you see the part where it mentioned and "of course, yourself"...now will you get it??
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sick. The people that buy that are grandmas trying to make their grandkids happy They have no idea their only buying material to start fires. Investment. That train left a couple decades ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's the way they marketed this offer. It is so misleading. Just offer the cards for what they are--don't make a claim that they are an investment and worth 600-800 bucks. False advertising at its finest!
ReplyDeleteGeez, if anybody is seriously interested in this deal they should contact me and I can give them a better deal on 3200ct boxes of late 80s, early 90s cards. They wouldn't even have to deal with the pesky 20 year old gum, as I've already disposed of it at my nearest haz-mat facility!
