Unexpected Poll Results

A few days ago I posted a poll asking what was the most amount of money you've spent on a single trading card.  I am not sure what I was expecting the results to show, but nevertheless I thought the results were interesting.

Out of 22 votes:

  • 36% of respondents have spent more than $50 on a single trading card.
  • 23% of respondents have spent between $30-$40 on a single trading card
  • 18% of respondents have spent between $20-$30 on a single trading card
  • 14% of respondents have spent between $0-$10 on a single trading card
What was interesting to me was that the highest percentage of people that responded have spent more than $50 on a single card.  As someone who has only spent around $40, I think I might have to step up my game a bit.  I always see awesome cards that I want to buy on eBay--mainly of the higher end Triple Threads, Marquee, and Tier One varieties, but I can never seem to pull the trigger. I get to thinking how many packs I can open with the money that I would spend on a single card, and I get deterred.  But thinking of it now, what am I hoping to pull in the packs I might buy?  Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Maybe I'll treat myself sometime soon to one of those sweet Roy Halladay Triple Threads cards, like this one:
