Here is another card I picked up at the show this weekend. For some reason game used Halladay cards seem to be more expensive than they should be, so I really don't have too many of them, even though I now have over 700 Halladay cards (had to throw that in there!). They also aren't all that easy to find at card shows, either. Most of his years were spent with the Blue Jays, and I guess Blue Jays cards aren't usually best sellers. This card, however, was one that the dealer set aside specifically for me. It's getting to the point now that I can go to a card show and dealers will call me over and show me the Halladays they've either found or pulled. This is how I picked up my first 1/1 printing plate of Roy.
Anyway, here is a 2012 game used jersey Halladay.
I hate that the swatch is from an away uniform--the ugly gray--but at least I have a piece of Roy's jersey from his great game against the Padres on April 24, 2011! Or maybe not...
A closer look at the fine print reveals that the relic contained on this card is not from any specific game, event, or season. Well gosh, Topps, that is a real bummer. Can I at least be sure that the jersey is one that was worn by Halladay at some point? I am pretty sure this is the norm now for game used cards, but it still kind of bums me out. Of course it won't keep me from chasing more, though!
I recently did a post about that ambiguous "game-used relic" and how they can't even pinpoint that the relic was even worn by the featured player. I really don't care for that. I understand the whole not specifying which game it was from but at least let me know that it was in fact, used by the player on the card.
