I am very excited for the National Sports Collectors Convention that is coming to Baltimore in early August. I've been looking forward to this for some time. The show is there five days and I plan on attending at least 3/5, maybe 4/5. The thing is that I am just not sure how much time I will need until I get there and see how much there is to go through. I remember a few years back when it was in Baltimore, I went one day and it wasn't nearly enough time. It was the last day though so I had no option of going again.
There is an entrance fee each day, which is $18. Kind of hefty, but it is what it is. I also have to determine how I am getting down to the city. I might take public transportation, but I don't know if I want to do that with what I assume will be several purchases from the show. Driving would probably cost me another $10 per day to park. Decisions, decisions. So yeah, it's going to cost a few dollars on top of what I spend on cards, but that is to be expected.
The dilemma I am having is this: do I purchase a VIP package or not? If I did, I would go for the $129.99 one. What does that get me?
I doubt I would go to the Wednesday part of the show, but I would definitely be there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday. Without the VIP, if I go all four of those days it would cost me $72 in entrance fees. If I get the VIP, I can use the VIP lounge (has anyone ever done this? Is it worth it?), I'd get 12 VIP autograph tickets, and a pretty cool set of Vintage reprint cards from Topps, along with several other sets of cards printed for VIPs.
So for an extra $57.99 (considering I'd be spending $72 to get in for 4 days anyway), I get the autographs, VIP access, early admission, and VIP card sets. I guess I am curious if anyone else has ever done the VIP thing, and whether you thought it was worth it or not. It also helps seeing this written rather than floating around in my head. I am really 50/50 on this.
Be a VIP!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Might as well go all out at least once!
