Still in the Hunt

If anyone was going to do this, he was.  The bat was broken, the ball hit the bat (somehow) three times, Hunter Pence was on second base and three runs had scored.  An unorthodox situation for a very unorthodox player.
No, Pence did not turn out to be the Next Great Phillie.  His is a rags to riches type situation, having started his career with the sub .500 Houston Astros, being traded to the Phillies mid season, winning the division title, and going to the playoffs.  This season Pence gets moved again, mid season near the trade deadline.  San Francisco is a world away from Philadelphia, and he admittedly was a bit shocked he got moved.
It's hard not to root for Hunter Pence, hence why I will be rooting for the Giants in the World Series. It's awesome to watch this San Francisco team play.  It's rare you can actually feel a team's chemistry as an observer, but for this team I can.  They have a great shot at winning it all due to this fact alone.
I do have a Hunter Pence player collection which started when he was traded to Philadelphia. I took a liking to the guy from the beginning, and I still enjoy watching him play today, even though he is no longer a Phillie. As you can imagine, having spent the majority of his career in Houston, most of the Pence cards in my collection show him in an Astros uniform.
Pence wore #9 in Houston, #3 in Philadelphia, and he wears #8 now for the Giants.  After having to change his Twitter handle twice due to his number changing, Pence went to the foolproof method of just using his name.  Smart dude.
I don't know the future of my Pence collection, but I do know I am not overly enthused about going out of my way to pick up his newer cards.  Certainly I will collect inserts and parallels if the opportunity arises, as is the case for all of my player collections, active or retired.

As I said, I will be rooting for Pence and the Giants in the World Series.  It should be an interesting bunch of games.
