No, not the blog, even though I still have struggled to find time to write quality posts. Do you follow me on Twitter? Please do if you don't...@FunnerHere is where I tweet during many Phillies games.
Roy Halladay and his dominance on the mound is the good thing I am referring to. First, let me say that Roy is and probably always will be tops in my book in terms of my favorite players. From the second he signed with the Phillies I took a liking to him, and have, of course, been following him ever since.
Heck, I even started a blog partially in his honor, and named after something he said during a highlight of his career, after a playoff win. "It's been fun, but it's only gonna get funner."
Right now things aren't so fun for Roy Halladay, as he has just been put on the 15 day disabled list. Will that 15 days be extended? If this is something very serious, will this be a permanent departure from the game for Roy Halladay?
No one knows, but a report I read tonight suggested that Roy gave the impression that if he cannot be the pitcher he once was, or at least get back to some resemblance of that, he would hang up his glove for good.
Per CSN Philly, "Rick Sutcliffe, a baseball analyst for ESPN and like Halladay a former Cy Young winner, reported on Monday that he’d spoken to Halladay. Sutcliffe reported that Halladay said he would retire if he couldn’t come back and be the pitcher he was in his prime."
I hope it doesn't end this way, but it certainly cannot continue this way either. Roy's stats this season are less than impressive. In fact, they are terrible. More on that later.
For now I am watching Kyle Kendrick pitch well against the Giants. A new era? Likely.
While Roy has given my Braves some tough times, I really hope he's OK and everything works out for him.
