The National is on Wednesday! I have an early flight so I will be there for all of the VIP festivities prior to the show opening. I am frantically trying to get cards together and trade stuff figured out. Last year it was easy since it was in Baltimore, and just a short drive away. This whole, "getting on a plane" thing and being away from my collection throws a new wrench in things for me when it comes to selling and trading. I have to make sure I have all the cards I need out there in case I have a trade or selling opportunity.
I've also been thinking of who or what I am going to collect out in Chicago. So far, I've come up with the regulars: Roy Halladay (of course), Cliff Lee, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman, Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, etc. I am also going to snag some Manny Machado cards, too.
I am planning on focusing on some prospects--Phillies and Orioles. Of course, the best laid plans often change, but I am thinking of this as of right now. I want to look for Darin Ruf, Jesse Biddle, Tommy Joseph, Cody Asche, Kevin Gausman, and Dylan Bundy cards, just to name a few.
I haven't purchased any cards in awhile, so I am itching to sort through boxes and rip packs. Good thing, as I will be there for four solid days with all the time in the world to do just that.
I'm also going to a Cubs game Thursday night! I am looking forward to experiencing Wrigley Field. As a baseball fan, this is something to check off the bucket list.
I keep mentioning that I will be tweeting from the show, so again, I will be tweeting from the show as much as I can. Follow me @FunnerHere! I hope to give anyone who can't go to the show a taste of what the experience is like as best I can.
The countdown continues...
Wrigley - world's largest bar.
