I am watching a documentary on Showtime On-Demand called Knuckleball!. It is a film chronicling the ups and downs of knuckleballers like Phil Neikro, Charlie Hough, and especially Tim Wakefield and R.A. Dickey. It's fascinating stuff learning about the pitch, and all the doubt that scouts had about drafting the pitchers.
The film includes a section where Dickey, Wakefield, Neikro, and Hough are just sitting on couches and chatting. If you're a fan of the game, of knuckeballers, or just want to see a good movie, I highly recommend it.
One of the best lines from the movie is something that transcends baseball: "Learn how to accept losses while not being defeated." -Phil Neikro
It's fantastic. I just finished it last night. Great film.
ReplyDeleteI have it on my DVR, but haven't watched it. Good to know it's worth it.
