Some National Cards and Stories

Hi all. Here are some cards I picked up at the National.
As you can imagine, many cards had a Chicago theme. You know, with the show being in Chicago and all.
Michael Jordan memorabilia was huge at the convention.
Each day Blowout Cards gave out exclusive, numbered to 500 Jordan cover cards.  These uploaded sideways, but you get the idea.
But even bigger than Jordan was this guy...
This is the Gypsy Queen Yasiel Puig rookie card redemption.  You could only get this card by buying a box of 2013 Topps Tribute World Baseball Classic cards, which were nearly $150 per box.  I didn't spend the money on the box, I actually WON one!  More on that later.  They were very hot hobby boxes at the show, despite them being so expensive.  This guy is already up on eBay.
And this was the box I won the night before at the Layton Sports Cards party at Rivers Casino.  More on that in a later post.
And as I was standing in line (about two hours), I had a guy come up to me and ask if he bought a box of 2013 Bowman Platinum, would I redeem it for him to get the exclusive set of prospect cards.  I was standing in line anyway, so I said sure.  He told me he would GIVE me the box of Bowman Platinum for doing this for him.  These boxes were selling for $100 at the show, and I had bought one the first day to get my set of cards.  So yeah, I wound up with this:
I got some sweet pulls out of these boxes, especially the WBC box.  These cards are very, very high end. There is a hit per pack!

Here are two:
Just in time for a steroid suspension, I pulled a Nelson Cruz auto.
And here is a Luis Mendoza auto.

I am listing lots of things on eBay, mainly to recoup some of the cash I spent at the show.  And believe me, I spend some serious cash there!  I have so many cards and boxes to sort through.  Tomorrow I am going to get another 5,000 count box and try to sort some things out.
