On Roy Halladay Retiring

You knew you'd hear from me today, right?

Roy Halladay retired.  He's also no longer on the Phillies.

Yet the world keeps on turning and baseball life will go on, even though for a split second today after just hearing the news I wondered if that would be the case.

Of course I am being dramatic, but today was somewhat of a surprise for me.  I don't think I ever considered baseball without Roy.  Even when he spent all that time on the disabled list he was still there...just inactive.  There was always a chance he'd come back.

I have much to say, yet I need time to gather my thoughts so it comes out properly. I never considered having to write a Roy retires post. In many ways pc-ing Roy Halladay keeps me in the collecting game--and he still will, just in the form of chasing old cards only.

Roy is an always will be a classy guy.  This is something I admire about him and one of the reasons he is my main pc.  I'll leave you with an example of this classiness...an ad Roy took out in the Philadelphia Daily News thanking the fans of Philadelphia.
More to come...

  1. I felt that way when Will Clark retired. I wasn't blogging then, but I know how you feel.
