I'd be remiss if I didn't show everyone a card that I saw pulled live during a Layton group break last week:
Yeah, Andrew Luck NFL Shield 1/1 National Treasures rookie was pulled. What an absolutely gorgeous card. To ship, it was insured for $8,000. Congrats to the lucky guy who got the Colts in the randomizer. I don't know if I've ever seen a bigger football card pulled! Now on to cards I own. I am sure many of you saw my huge pull from 2014 Leaf Metal Draft, but in case you didn't, here's the Manziel /50 auto I have:
I find myself staring at this card and liking it more and more. So much so that I am not sure I want to sell it. Who knows where Manziel will fall in the draft or what kind of NFL career (if any) he will have. Just look at what happened to Tim Tebow. Maybe I will get it graded. We'll see.
The Manziel was from a box I bought, but I also bought into a group break that was a two player snake draft. I got a crappy spot in the randomizer but this product is so loaded that I wound up getting incredible cards for where I fell! I am also highlighting the other cards from the box I bought:
Brandon Coleman blue auto /50. Coleman was a very good wide receiver at Rutgers, and is considered a "bargain" in the draft.
Logan Thomas was the Virginia Tech quarterback. He ran the fastest 40 yard dash of any quarterback at the combine, with a time of 4.61.
Louis Nix III is at defensive back from Notre Dame who is considered to be very good. Funny enough, he calls himself "Irish Chocolate."
Charles Sims played his senior year at West Virginia, and is though to be one of the best running backs in the draft.
These boxes are so loaded that even with the 26th pick in a 30 spot draft, I managed to get a card #/10. This one is Stephen Morris, a quarterback for Miami.
De'Anthony Thomas was a running back for Oregon, and I also snagged his blue auto #/50. Nicknamed the "Black Mamba," Thomas had a pretty terrible combine performance. Since he used to play for Chip Kelly, could he become an Eagle?
Brandin Cooks played for Oregon State and is considered one of the top wide receivers in the draft. You're looking at the base version of his auto.
Leaf makes some beautiful sports cards. I wish they'd make more. My two favorite products ever have come with the Leaf logo: this and 2013 Trinity baseball. I can see myself chasing a lot more of these cards in the near future, before some of these guys become household names.
