2006 Fleer Tradition Blaster Comes Through

The Scene
Friday night, Christmas shopping, Wal-Mart, Card aisle, 2006 Fleer Tradition Blaster on sale for $9.98.

The Possibilities
Ten Packs (plus one BONUS pack, ZOMG), Ten cards per pack. Pull AMAZING things! Pull a SEPIA TONED parallel! Pull a collectible themed card! Pull a BLACK and WHITE parallel! Pull an actual REAL LIVE BASEBALL PLAYER! Pull one of these in EVERY SINGLE PACK!

The Reality
Open packs that remind you that you did NOT buy a hobby box (see 'Retail' in upper left corner of pack), so cheapskate, you will get what you pay for, like this Melvin Mora game used (ugly gray) away jersey card.

Pull a Nick Swisher Sepia SP and a Nick Swisher base card from the same pack! Also, be reminded twice that Nick Swisher used to play for the A's!

Pull rookie cards of two really good pitchers!

Finally, pull cards of THREE players you collect...three cards you did not have! Pull a Ryan Zimmerman rookie, at that!

This was a fun box to break. I didn't have any of these cards in my collection so it provided some more (non-Topps) variety.  I don't know why, but I actually like the look of these cards. They have both a modern and classic feel to me. The photography isn't great, but something is endearing.  Plus, over 100 cards for less than ten bucks is always a good thing.

More posts soon!

  1. 2006 Fleer Tradition actually has a pretty nice base design. Great pickup for less than $10.

  2. I like this set too and have accumulated a few cards here and there but never a blaster's worth. Nice find.

  4. Every once in awhile Wal-Mart (and Target) get blasters in that have these huge red stickers that say 50% or 40% off. They are always older sets, but totally worth it.
