More from the Philly Show (Post 3.0)

I wanted to mention something I noticed at the Philly Show that was in stark contrast to the National Sports Collectors Convention in August. That show might have well been called The National Sports Collectors Convention and Stephen Strasburg Show.  People went nuts for Strasburg back in August. So many dealers were featuring his stuff. I recall going to a booth and asking a dealer how much he wanted for his "rare" Strasburg. He replied, "$1,000." It's amazing what an elbow injury will do to your card values.

This was a sign from the redemption promo Topps did at the show.

Moving on to Philly this past weekend, Strasburg cards were few and far between, and they certainly were not a big selling point for vendors.  I did see a few rookies here and there, but not much else.

I had some nice pick ups for my Ryan Zimmerman player collection from the Philly Show.  I found a vendor that had boxes of game used cards 5 for $20, so I rifled through them and found five nice Zimmerman game used.  One was numbered /125, which I thought was a pretty nice find. Sorry about the lazy scan.

I also picked up a few more Zimmermans out of .50/card boxes. I am pretty much just starting my Zimmerman player collection, so anything I find cheap I pick up.  I haven't even gone through any of my cards yet to see what I already have of him.

Speaking of the Nationals, the word on the street is that they might make a play for Cliff Lee. Where the heck are they getting all this money? I'm too lazy to look up what Dunn's contract was but I suspect it isn't Cliff Lee money.  I can't believe that this deal will happen, but if it somehow does, the Nats will be one of the teams to beat in the NL East in 2012 for sure, and maybe even 2011.

Regardless, I'd love to see a Halladay/Lee matchup.  We'll see what happens.
