The Best Part of My Trade With Dawgbones Was Not Baseball Cards

Dawgbones and I are both Phillies collectors and fans, so we don't really think to trade with each other very often. In fact, this is our first ever trade.

Dawg was going to send me some cards, and then I would send cards back in return (based on what he sent). Those cards are in the mail. He did send me some awesome cards, including some Halladays and other assorted Phillies, but the cards were not nearly the coolest part of the box.

When I got the box it had this written on one end:
And this written on the other end:
Hmmm. I was intrigued! I wondered what surprise was waiting for me at this end of the box. A relic, maybe? Something numbered or just plain rare?

What I found I never would have guessed.  Dawgbones included a MINI Roy Halladay stand up cardboard thing.  I have no idea how he made it but it is pure awesomeness that will reside on my desk at work.  Here's what I'm talking about:
Here is mini-Roy without his hat.
Here is the back of mini-Roy.
And here is mini-Roy with his hat! It's removeable and sometimes I put it on him backwards.

Real-life Roy probably would not approve, but mini-Roy is a rebel.
Mini-Roy is stylin'...

Thanks for the trade, the cards, and the mini-Roy, Dawgbones!  You should be getting your cards from me soon.

The Phillies have two games today against the Marlins. Since one is a day game, it's reasonable to say I won't get too much work done this afternoon!

  1. You should recognize these, you were the first to comment on this post: http://dawgbonesaphilliesphan.blogspot.com/2010/12/and-now-for-something-completely_21.html, they are called cubees.
And you are the second to be taken be surprise with one of these turning up in your mailbox: http://mycardboardmistress.blogspot.com/2010/12/surprise-package-from-dawgbones.html, and I've made a couple others since, but the Halladay was Funner to create, though I think the beard should have been the same color as the hair. Very glad you liked the package. I was amazed how well the GQ box worked for this trade, with the separated compartments inside, leaving me room for the messages. Looking forward to my return package. Thanks... D-

Now you'll have to excuse me as I have to get ready for today's Fish Fry!

verification word fun: wrarkefi - sounds like one of my dogs trying to talk to me!!
