Thanks to you guys for commenting on my post with the link to your blogs. I love finding new ones and then reading all the great posts.

Last night pretty much sucked.  The Phillies were up 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th in Washington.  There was an almost three hour rain delay last night so it was the wee hours of the morning.

Ryan Madson comes on for the close. Prior to this he has only blown one save in 24 chances.  You know where this is going.  Jayson (126 million dollar contract man with a batting average in the low .200s) gets up and has a really good at bat--ten plus pitches, and the last pitch he smacks to left for a single.  Long story short, the Nats load the bases with two outs, Ryan Zimmerman comes up, full count.  Grand Slam.  Nats win 8-4, and Madson gives up as many earned runs in the inning (6) as he has allowed the entire season.  These things happen, right?

Did I mention this is tough for me because I collect Zimmerman?  I like the guy.  But last night I wouldn't have minded him striking out!  In all seriousness, dude was c l u t c h.

  1. I guess if you are going to blow a save, go out in STYLE!!

  2. Madson has been very solid all season long. I don't expect this to become the norm. Once he went 3-2 on Zimmerman, I just knew it was not going to be an happy ending.

I personally think, if Polanco can't stay healthy -- Ryan Zimmerman would look great in red pinstripes.
