Can you guys believe that? It seems like just yesterday we were all hopped up that 2011 Opening Day was released. Now we have Update! The postseason begins on October 7th. I don't know about you, but I can hardly wait. It's going to be fun to watch a few untested teams try their hand at October baseball.
The Phillies have already clinched a spot in the postseason, and other races are coming down to the wire (are you Red Sox fans worried?). It's getting interesting.
A little change of scenery here on the old blog. A background of a red curtain, as if to say,"let the show begin."
Remember at the All-star break we all had high hopes the Pirates would finish the season over .500 for the first time in I don't even know how many years?
Not so much, right Tabata?
The Twins had high hopes too, but they are in the cellar of the AL Central. When your best pitcher's ERA is a 4.49 (Blackburn) and your best player (Mauer)can't stay healthy, you're gonna have some problems.I also had aspirations of collecting the Allen & Ginter base and base mini sets when they came out, but I think I've shelved that. I do need all 2011 A&G SPs and even base cards of all the players in my player collection minus Zimmerman and Lee.
Oh, the cards I'm showing here are from a retail box recently purchased.
"All I need is a tall ship and a star to sail her by..." Willy Wonka
No hits in this box, unlike the last one when I scored the Castro relic.
So, what was this year's "Revolving Door" card equivalent? I'm that out of the loop with this set, although I don't want to be.
A zebra. Cool.
I have the Holliday mini, but need the HALLADAY mini. And all other Phillies including Hunter Pence.
Have a great weekend, everyone. I continue to recover from shoulder surgery, and still have no use of my right arm until at least the 28th! I'm getting pretty good at being left handed though, and typing with one hand. It just takes a little longer! It's kind of hard to sort cards too, but I might give it a go this weekend and see if I can get some trades going.
As always, thanks for reading!
Sadly, there's no revolving door equivalent in this year's A&G, because Topps ditched the inanimate object cards in the base set. Too bad.
